Made to Measure
Made to measure is something in the middle between bespoke and Ready to Wear.
Starting from a block pattern, MtM suit offers a fit and a construction quality superior to RtW, and also some of the aesthetic customization options of bespoke suiting, but at a lower price and a quicker turnaround time.
In MtM process, the block pattern is altered to accomodate those measurements before the suit is created.
First step is taking customer’s measures, to understand which size pattern has to be choosed and tried on to the customer. The fitting step, then, allows the tailor to know which is the pattern that most closley approximates customer’s body. After choosed the pattern size, tailoring house will use that size as a starting point, and will apply all necessary alterations highlighted by the try-on fitting.
Turnaround time can be flexible, according ,i.e., to the fabric availability, but is tipically faster than bespoke. What is important to know too is that the construction of each garment is always of a high quality level, as it is fully canvassed.
Finally, we can assume that MtM suit is customized , but not custom.
